Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA)

A Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) is utilized to identify behavior issues while working towards either improving or removing them. The process of an FBA includes gathering data of behavior and determining what evokes it. Once an efficient amount of data is gathered, necessary steps to improve behavior are enforced.

 

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)

Environmental factors can affect behavior, specifically social skills, and communication. Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a type of treatment that studies behavior and enforces behavior interventions. The approach assists in implementing steps towards more positive behavior while eliminating negative behavior.

Parent/Caregiver Training

While experts can assist in primary treatments, parent training is essential for a treatment program’s success. Parents play imperative roles when caring for and assisting children with autism reach their goals. Parent training exposes parents and caregivers to the 4 Functions of Behaviors, environmental variables that contribute to behavior, and how to assist in changing behavior. During child therapy sessions, parents and caregivers should be present to observe their child’s behavior and treatment. Noting how a therapist teaches a child and gives feedback, can allow for the same tactics to be done at home.
